Alfred Marion Thompson

Alfred Marion Thompson, 80, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, KS. Born October 6, 1934, at Protection, KS, he was the son of Edson Aubrey and Leta Hazel (Cline) Thompson.
Alfred was a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS. He attended Protection High School in Protection, KS. On December 18, 1954, he married Glenice Atteberry at Clayton, NM. She survives.
Alfred worked on the Able Ranch in Ashland, KS from 1960-1965, worked for Lane Myers Co. in Protection, KS from 1965-1978, and was owner/operator of Thompson's Kremee in Coldwater, KS from 1978-2000. He was a member of the Coldwater Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing and also donated his time helping maintain and upgrade the course. He enjoyed hunting, softball, gardening, woodworking, and K.F.C. He also volunteered at the Pioneer Lodge, helping with the landscaping.

He is survived by his wife: Glenice Thompson; two sons: Glenn Thompson and Richard Thompson and his wife Diana; three daughters: Aleta Gatz and her husband John, Lesa Davis and her husband Brad, and Leslie Fischtziur and her husband Andy; one brother: Melvin Thompson; three sisters: Wanda Waller, Janice Trebino, and Joyce Vann; thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Elmer Thompson; three sisters: Marguerite Hughes, Alma Favreau, and Geneva Smith; and one grandchild.

Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2015, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS, with Andrew Evans presiding.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
