IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Audrey Eileen
Ellis
April 20, 1940 – April 29, 2011
Audrey Eileen (Chenoweth) Ellis, 71, died April 29, 2011. She was born April 20, 1940 and attended Chandler High School, Class of 58, in Chandler OK. Audrey was an RN graduating in 1961 from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Hutchinson, KS. She loved nursing and worked at Menninger Foundation, Dr. Turner's office, Garden City, and retired after 12 years of service at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital. Audrey's love of caring for people continued long after her retirement when she took a position in the county health department in Comanche County. She touched many in our community which has been evident in the outpouring of condolences extended to our family. She also loved to spend time in her kitchen. So many times she would head to town with a back seat of baked goods for friends. Who can forget her valentine sugar cookie heart shaped tarts, or her spiced drop cookies, and then there was her beef jerky. So many cows lost their lives for the pile of jerky she made over the years. Of course all made with love for her friends and family.
Family was very important to Audrey. Her recent birthday was a celebration where she found herself pampered by many from her extended family. Audrey is survived by her husband Larry, her sons Dewayne & Audra , Al & Pearl, Greg & Maxine, and Scott. 30 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one on the way, all knew her as Grandma Audrey.
Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2011, (Family Will Be Present from 5:00 to 7:00) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, Ks.
Funeral service is at 2 pm, Friday, May 6, 2011, at the Coldwater United Methodist Church. Interment will follow the funeral service at Fairview Cemetery in Greensburg, Ks.
