Barry Keith McLean, 77, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Protection Valley Manor in Protection, KS.  Born May 1, 1947 at Ashland, KS, he was the son of Arthur "Hi" and Katheryn E. (Williams) McLean.

Barry was a resident of Protection, KS, previously living in Oklahoma and Arkansas.  He graduated from Protection High School in 1965.  During his life, Barry held many jobs including: Oilfield Driller; Owner of a feed store in Bonanza, Arkansas; working at the U.S. Post Office in Bonanza, Arkansas; working at Byram Manufacturing in Coldwater, KS; working as a farm hand for Roger Boisseau; and numerous other jobs.  He was a member of Protection United Methodist Church and Comanche County Volunteer Fire Department.

On April 22, 1967, Barry married Bonnie Byram at Coldwater, KS.

He is survived by his wife: Bonnie McLean of Protection, KS; two nieces: Jennifer Foos (Bryan) of Ness City, KS and Mica Soames (Daniel) of Topeka, KS; four great-nieces: Alysson Whiteley (Dakotah), Ashley Foos, Amy Foos, and Allie McLean; one great-great-nephew: Tobyn Whiteley; one brother-in-law: Dennis Byram (Carole) of Coldwater, KS; two sisters-in-law: Diana McLean of Bartlesville, OK and Anita McLean of Milford, KS; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Billy McLean and Byron Lee McLean; and one niece: Michelle McLean.

A Celebration of Barry's Life, where memories and stories are encouraged to be shared, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024 in the fellowship hall of the Protection Methodist Church in Protection, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for Benefit Of Bonnie McLean in care of The Bank of Protection or The Bank of Coldwater.
