Betty Jean Brass
Betty Brass, 87, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at her apartment at Sunrise Assisted Living in Leawood, Kansas. She was born on April 26, 1926, at Coldwater, Kansas. Her parents were Wilford and Lucille Betzer of Coldwater, Kansas.
Betty grew up in Coldwater with her three sisters, Mary, Wilma, and Dorothy, and her brother, Donald. She graduated from Coldwater High School. She married Ross Beeley in 1944. After his service in World War II, Betty and Ross moved to the family farm south of Coldwater. Besides helping on the farm, Betty worked as a secretary in the Coldwater school office and at the law office of Harold Herd. Ross passed away in 1964.
On June 3, 1966, Betty married Robert "Bob" Brass. They lived together in Coldwater until his death in 2006.
Betty's greatest joy in life was to cook for and entertain her family and many friends. Her house in Coldwater and later her apartment in Leawood were always havens of peace, good food, and soothing conversation. Betty especially loved spending time and traveling with her sisters.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Ellen Sweeney, of Leawood, KS, Martha Brass and Carolyn Brass of Pueblo, CO, and her sons, Steve Brass of McLean, TX and Ronald Beeley of Alta Loma, California; one sister, Mary Einsel, Wickenburg, AZ; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald Betzer and two sisters, Dorothy Moores and Wilma Billington, and one son, Charles Brass.
The family will have a graveside service at Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, Kansas on Friday, October 10, at 1:00 P.M.
