Betty Jo Hadley, 95, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Lake Point in El Dorado, KS. Born November 12, 1926 in Coldwater, KS, she was the only child of Orland Dale and Edyth Melba (Betzer) Vermillion.
Betty Jo was a long time resident of Coldwater, KS, moving to a nursing home in Augusta, KS and most recently El Dorado, KS. She attended Coldwater Schools through her junior year. She moved with her family to Wichita, KS, graduating from Wichita North High School, where she played the saxophone in the band.
On December 25, 1943, she married Norman Lee Hadley in Coldwater, KS. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1998.
Betty Jo was a lifetime member of the Coldwater First Christian Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and singing in the church choir for many years. Other memberships include: C.W.F.; Red Hat Society; Priscilla Circle; Eastern Star; H.D.U.; Holmes Bible Study; and Comanche County Hospital Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout Leader, taking 11 girls to Old Mexico in 1967. She volunteered at the Coldwater Nutrition Center for many years. She was a homemaker and also helped Norman operate Hadley Grocery and Motel.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Douglas Lee Hadley; and two grandchildren: Steve and Samantha.
She is survived by one son: Dale C. Hadley (Connie J.) of Wellington, KS and children: Erin, Robert, and Andrea; one daughter: Debra Urban (Merle) of El Dorado, KS and children: Christy, Wilena, and Lori; one daughter-in-law: Carrie Hadley of Texas; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS, with Jeff Blundell presiding. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Coldwater First Christian Church in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
