IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bill
Bayne
December 28, 1931 – June 25, 2025
Billy Jo Bayne, 93, of Protection, KS, was welcomed in the arms of Jesus on June 25, 2025. Born on December 28, 1931, in Ashland, KS, he was the son of Kern and Bernice Bayne. He spent the majority of his life in Protection and graduated from Protection High School in 1949; on March 3, 1950, he married Bernice Zimmerman of Protection, KS. They shared 70 wonderful years of marriage, raising a family and building a legacy of love, service and strength. He was a man of integrity, faith and generosity - devoted to his family, his work and his Lord. For decades, he worked long hours as a farmer/rancher. He was a faithful member of Grace Bible Church, where he served as an Elder and bible study leader.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kern and Bernice Elam Bayne; siblings, Bob Bayne, Bonnie Bayne Smutz and Bruce Bayne; his first wife, Bernice Zimmerman Bayne, who passed away in 2020 due to complications from COVID-19 and their son, Randall W Bayne, who passed in 2024 of cancer.
In 2023, Bill found love again and married Marlene Filson Webb, who remained by his side through his final days. As an indication of Bill and Marlene's loving and caring personalities, it was easy for their two families to blend and establish love and friendships.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene Webb Bayne, of Protection; his children, Teresa Bayne of Protection, KS, Susan Doherty, (Jim) of Brock, TX, and Michael Bayne (Suze) of Spearfish, SD; his eleven grand-children whom he cherished; Shane Doherty, (Shanna) of Kingwood, TX, Nicale Ney, (Jason) of Russell, KS, Jeremy Doherty, (Laura) of Brock, TX, Kasey Bayne of Protection, KS, Jennifer Guidry, (Wes) of Georgetown, TX, Joshua Doherty, (Charisa) of Eagle River, AK, Carly Speidel, (Bruce) of Sundance, WY, Nathan Bayne, (Ashley) of Grand Forks, ND, Waylon Bayne of San Diego, CA, Reagan Carlin, (Jonah) of Protection, KS, and Taylor Waters, (Karson) of Protection, KS, and he was more than willing to brag about his 24 great-grandchildren and all their accomplishments.
Graveside Memorial Service is at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Comanche County Hospital's Physical Therapy Expansion Project in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
