Billy Jack Sanders, 84, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016, at his residence in Protection, KS. The youngest of four children, he was born August 20, 1931, in a farmhouse near Protection, KS, the son of Clemie C. and May (Ferguson) Sanders.
Billy Jack was a lifetime resident of Protection, KS. He attended Protection Grade School and graduated from Protection High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marines from 1952-1954. He was an active member of the Protection Christian Church and Protection Golf Course. He was the retired owner of Lane Myers Co., in Protection, KS.
On February 12, 1956, he married Patricia Ann Myers at the Protection Christian Church in Protection, KS. She survives.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Pat Sanders of Protection, KS; a sister-in-law: Joyce (Myers) Veatch of Bellflower, CA; one daughter: Lori Canaday (Danny) of Protection, KS; two sons: Chad Lane Sanders of Casa Grande, AZ and Mau Espinosa of Kansas City, MO; two grandsons: Preston James and Ty James of Protection, KS; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Leon Sanders in 1969; sister: Linda Harden in 1983; and brother: Ronnie Sanders in 2016.
Memorial service is at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at the Protection First Christian Church in Protection, KS, with Rod Rieger and Barry Walker presiding.
