Brenda Faye Austin, 71, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.  Born September 24, 1948 at Grandfield, OK, she was the daughter of Herman and Thelma (Inman) Rollins.

Brenda was a long time resident of Protection, KS, moving there in 1974.  She was a member of Church of Christ and Circle of Friends.  She worked as a dietician for the Protection Valley Manor for many years.

On February 25, 1966, she married Charles Miner Austin III at Wichita Falls, TX.  He preceded her in death on March 29, 2015.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Nora Wheat; and her Aunt: Faye Teeter.

She is survived by one son: Charlie Austin of Protection, KS; one daughter: Alicia Cardenas and her husband Col. Roberto of San Antonio, TX; two brothers: J.R. Rollins of Burkburnett, TX and Lonnie Rollins of Burkburnett, TX; one sister: Bonnie West of Burkburnett, TX; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Molly Klefstad (Keith Gray) and son Wilder Gray, Ashton Cardenas, and Alex Cardenas; and her dog: Sally.

Visitation with family present is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2020, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Graveside service is at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS, with Pastor Trever Ball presiding.
