Charles "Chuck" Bruckner
Charles "Chuck" Bruckner, 69, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the Kansas Soldiers Home in Fort Dodge, KS. Born January 23, 1945, at Hegyfalu, Hungary, he was the son of Frank and Mary (Fulop) Bruckner.
Chuck grew up in Owensboro, KY and attended Wesleyan University. On April 27, 1968, he married Diane Snell. To this union four children were born: Chris, Sarah, Danny, and Tony. They were later divorced. Chuck was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W.
Chuck was a chef, owning and managing numerous restaurants and high end clubs including: The Flame Steakhouse, The Harbor, Lakewood Oaks, Blue Ridge, Victorian Garden, The Dodge City Airport, and The Comanche. He worked for the Kansas City Royals franchise in 1985 as the executive chef for the V.I.P. section. In the mid 2000's, Chuck became a permanent resident of Coldwater, KS to be closer to his family.
He is survived by four children: Chris Bruckner (Penny) of Coldwater, KS, Sarah McCoid (Donald) of Daytona Beach, FL, Danny Bruckner (Rebecca) of Coldwater, KS, and Tony Bruckner (Stacey) of Dodge City, KS; one sister: Maria Overton (Mike) of Owensboro, KY; thirteen grandchildren: Brandon, Joey, Samantha, Austen, Alex, Jason, Donnie, Connor, Jacob, Tristen, Victoria, Chloe, and Caleb; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Frank and Emery Bruckner.
Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 8, 2014, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor John Paul presiding. Private family interment with full military honors is at Fort Dodge Veterans Cemetery in Fort Dodge, KS.
