Charles Henry "Chuck" Metzger, 68, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024 at Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, KS.  Born May 26, 1956, at Greensburg, KS, he was the son of August Alva and Helen Mae (Booth) Metzger.

Chuck was a lifetime resident of Wilmore, KS.  He attended Wilmore Grade School, where he was a member of the last graduating 8th Grade Class.  He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1974 and attended Dodge City Community College.

He was a lifetime farmer and rancher and also worked at Wolcott & Lincoln Elevator in Wilmore for many years.  Chuck was a 50 year member and Past-Master of Comanche Lodge #295; and he was Assistant Chief for the Wilmore Volunteer Fire Department.

On July 23, 1977, he married Rita Jill Edwards at Coldwater, KS.

He is survived by his wife: Jill Metzger of Wilmore, KS; one son: Chris Metzger of Manhattan, KS; two sisters: Nancy Zimmerman of Protection, KS and Mary Jane Spurgeon (Mike) of Lewisville, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; and his faithful companion: Ranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law: Alfred Zimmerman.

Visitation with Family Present is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral Service is at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Wilmore Community Center in Wilmore, KS.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Wilmore Cemetery in Wilmore, KS.
