Obituary

Charlotte Mary (Prilliman) Meek

My time with you ended on April 21, 2012, at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS.
I was born March 10, 1944, in what was a boarding house at the corner of Jefferson and Pine in Protection, KS, to Claude "Bud" Prilliman and Grace A. Carson. I attended school in Protection until 1955, when my mother and brother and I moved to Hutchinson, KS. I graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1962.
My first job was at the court house in Hutchinson, then on to the office at Betts Baking, and finally R.L. Polk and Company as supervisor of the Ad Department.
While working at Polk, I met Charles L. Meek and we married on February 12, 1971. Charles was transferred to Tulsa in 1974. After two years of being a stay at home wife, I went to work and worked as supervisor of the typography department for AdverType, which became ColorGraphics. I was offered and took the job as supervisor of the publishing division of Purolater Products in Tulsa. In 1994, Chuck accepted a job as executive chef at the Country Club in Winfield, KS. I once again became a stay at home wife. At the end of 1995, Chuck took a position as executive chef at a country club in Columbia, MO, and I, being tired of staying home, went to work at the Secretary of State Office, Jefferson City, MO, in the Publications Division and retired from there in 2007.
In 2010, after the death of my sister, I asked my husband if I could go home to Protection, KS. He agreed and in November 2010, we moved to Protection. I now leave the one love of my life, my husband Chuck, to continue on there. I was the youngest of five children, and I am preceded in death by my parents: Claude "Bud" and Grace; my brothers: Claude, Jr. "Buddy" Prilliman, Ronald Ray Prilliman, and Ted Darrell Prilliman; and my only sister: Patricia Louise (Prilliman) Stubinger.
I am survived in addition by 29 nieces and nephews, 44 great-nieces and nephews, 21 great-great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends. It has been a great adventure and I am now ready to move on to the next one.

Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the First Christian Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Brandon Hagins presiding. Burial will follow in Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church Children and Youth Camp or Protection Legion Hall Renovation in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
