Cindy Eyleen Hackney, 56, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018, at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital in Medicine Lodge, KS. Born June 8, 1962, in Syracuse, KS, she was the daughter of Franklin and Treva (Plunkett) Donnel.

Cindy graduated from Syracuse High School in Syracuse, KS in 1980, attended college in Colby, KS for one year, and graduated from Seward County Community College in Liberal, KS. She was a resident of the Wilmore, KS area, moving there in 1983. She married Lane Hackney on February 9, 1985 in Syracuse, KS.

Cindy worked at Dr. Trotter's Office in Dodge City, KS and Kiowa County Hospital in Greensburg, KS for a time. She worked as a Medical Lab Technician and Lab Manager at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS for 32 years. She was a member of Syracuse Methodist Church, Wilmore Federated Church, and served on the U.S.D. #300 School Board for many years.

She is survived by her mother: Treva (Donnel) Arnett (Larry) of Wichita, KS; two daughters: Marci Hackney (Keven) of Medicine Lodge, KS and Maggi Sorg (Michael) of Medicine Lodge, KS; one son: Harlie Hackney of Wilmore, KS, their father: Lane Hackney of Wilmore, KS; one brother: Allen Donnel (Starla) of Edmond, OK; two grandchildren: Oliver Sorg and Livvy Sorg; and nieces, nephews and their families: C.J., Casey, Keitha, Ricci, Randi, Luke, Jessi, Shayna, Shelby, Chad, and Shay.

She was preceded in death by her father: Franklin Donnel; and her father and mother-in-law: Bob and Helen Hackney.

Funeral service is at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2018 at First Christian Church, Coldwater, KS. (The family encourages wearing jeans and boots, just as Cindy liked.)

The family will greet friends following the funeral until 6 p.m., at Coldwater Veteran's Building, Coldwater, KS.

Graveside service is at 10:00 a.m. (MST), Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse, KS.
