Walter Clair Thompson

Clair Thompson, 89, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at his residence in Coldwater, KS. Born March 15, 1925 on a farm in Kiowa County, north of Coldwater, KS, he was the son of Walter T. and Clara (Hase) Thompson.
Clair was a lifetime resident of the Coldwater, KS area. He attended Coldwater Grade School, Reader Country School, and graduated from Coldwater High School in 1943. Clair was a member of the Coldwater Country Club; Coldwater Masonic Lodge; and he was a Class Director in the Wichita Midian Shrine in Wichita, KS.
Clair was a farmer and rancher. He loved farming the land, harvesting the crops, and caring for his livestock.
On July 21, 1946, he married Gwendolyn Ann "Gwen" Daniel at Coldwater, KS. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2010.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Wayne Thompson, and one sister: Anna Lou Einsel.
Clair is survived by three daughters: Cindi Daniel of Overland Park, KS, Deidre Langseth and husband Jim of Loch Lloyd, MO, and Shari Dickerson and husband John of Centerville, KS; two sons: Don Thompson of Coldwater, KS and Scott Thompson and wife Kelli of Holton, KS; two brothers: James Thompson of Greensburg, KS and his twin brother: Clyde Thompson of Excelsior Springs, MO; one sister: Marjorie Overocker of Coldwater, KS; ten grandchildren: Heather (Dan), Dawn Marie (Jason), Cooper (Monica), Colton, Michaela, Hayley, Jamie, Travis, Eric, and Jessica; nine great-grandchildren: David, Carsyn, Maeson, Jake, Hannah, Shelby, Jamie, Luke, and Gentry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 4, 2014 (Family Will Be Present From 5-7) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS, with Rev. Jerry Hodges presiding.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, KS.
