Obituary

Clarence Junior "JR" Williams, 93, died Tuesday, April 21, 2020, in Coldwater, Kan., following injuries sustained from a tractor accident in March.

He was born February 4, 1927, at Lookout, Okla., to Clarence Amos and Bessie Louise (Uhl) Williams. He married Neoma Louise Carver on June 6, 1946 at Coldwater, KS.  Children Janice and Max Williams were born to this union. They lived in Freedom, Okla., and Coldwater.

JR later married Rose McMillin. Both Neoma and Rose preceded him in death, as well as his parents and sisters Juanita Searle and Wonda Taylor.

JR was a welder, truck driver, pilot, and auto mechanic. As an entrepreneur, he operated and then purchased the Kanorado Conoco & Grocery store in Kanorado, KS while also driving a truck for Yellow Freight.  During the 1970's he transported many Kanorado residents in his plane to medical appointments and business commutes.  Two more businesses were founded by JR in Coldwater. The first was the The Highway Garage, now known as Miller Farms, and the last was JR's Radiator and Automotive Repair.  Junior enjoyed his family and friends throughout his life and felt it was a duty and a privilege to help support his community. He was grateful to his loyal customers and especially enjoyed hosting an annual Customer Appreciation Day at JR's Radiator and Auto Repair, where he fed 100's of patrons and friends in the Coldwater area.

JR married Bessie Lee (Felkins) Bliss on Oct. 14, 2000 in Coldwater, at the Assembly of God Church, with  Reverend Jonathan Gibson presiding.  She survives. He is also survived by his son, Max Williams; daughter, Janice (Gary) Blevins of Coldwater; stepson Roy (Carol) Bliss of Wichita, Kan.; stepdaughter Quilma (David) Herndon of Newton, Kan.;  sister Neomia (Kenneth) Goebel, of Attica, Kan.; brother Bob (Elsie) Williams of Augusta, Kan.; 9 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members.
