Cory Jason Minton, 49, of Coldwater, Kansas passed away on August 10th, 2025.
Cory was born to David Louis Minton and Tanya Jo Canon (Culp) in Snyder, Texas on Thursday, September 4th, 1975.
Cory moved around a lot when he was young. He moved to Bloomfield with his family in 1991 and started at Bloomfield High School. Cory graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1994. Soon after graduation, his sister, Shauna, introduced him to the love of his life, Christa. They got married on December 10th, 1994 and were married 30 years. Cory joined the Navy and served until honorably discharged in 1998. After the Navy, Cory began work as an apprentice electrician. He transitioned to the oil and gas industry in 1999. In 2001, Cory and Christa became parents to a daughter, Janessa Raelyn Minton. In 2003, they were blessed again with a son, Samuel Clarence Minton. They were also blessed with a bonus daughter/niece Brienna Lynn Solis (Robertson) in 1999. The family spent their days living between Snyder, Texas and Aztec, New Mexico.
They lived in Aztec, New Mexico for several years where Cory coached several sports. Cory loved to coach and he was great at it. Cory coached both his girls and niece in softball and his son, nephews, cousin and niece in wrestling. He loved coaching and coached at many different levels including youth, middle school and high school. Cory was very passionate about his coaching positions, especially coaching high school wrestling.
Cory worked at Northern Natural Gas as a manager of district operation. He had been working for the company for three years at the time of his passing. He had worked in the oil and gas industry for over 20 years and truly enjoyed his job.
Cory attended the First Baptist Church of Protection. Cory was an avid believer and had been all his life. Cory committed his life to Jesus when he was young and continued to follow the Lord for the rest of his days.
Cory leaves behind a loving family consisting of: wife of thirty years Christa Minton (Robison), father David Minton and step-mother Vickie Minton, mother Tanya Canon (Culp) and step-father Albert "Snuffy" Canon, his paternal grandmother Doris Minton, his maternal grandmother Zula Culp, his children, Brienna Solis (Frankie Solis), Janessa Minton and Samuel Minton, sister Lisa Jump (Brian Jump), sister Shauna Parkinson, brother Blaine Minton (Kelby Minton), sister Allison Rivera (John), Mother-in-Love Cinda Valentine father-in-love Luke Valentine, Mother-In-Love Connie Robison brother-in-law Bryan Robison (Autumn Robison), brother-in-law Caleb Robison (Christie Robison), brother-in-law Clint Staj (Jenn), sister-in-law Gail Nixon, sister-in-law Rhietta Beatty (Josh), beloved Aunt Cathy Weaver, beloved Aunt Kelly(Dan) Dacus, several beloved nieces and nephews, several beloved great nieces and nephews, along with his bonus son Grady Roberts, Goddaughter Nikkina "CeCe" Begay, Godson JD George and Granddaughter Emery Solis and many other beloved family members.
Cory was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clarence Minton, maternal grandfather, Olan Culp and father in love, Charles "Chuck" Robison.
Services will be held in Bloomfield, New Mexico on August 22nd, 2025 at 6pm at First Baptist Bloomfield with Fritz Polk officiating. A potluck style dinner will follow.
Coldwater services will be held Saturday September 6th, 2025 at 6pm at the Coldwater Veterans Building. Please bring a covered dish to share.
