Curtis "Curt" Lee Rush left this world peacefully at home in Coldwater, KS, on Monday, November 11, 2024 at age 60. He was born on March 24, 1964 in Alton, IL to Harley E. and Donna J. (Cline) Rush.
The family moved to Coldwater in 1971 where Curt grew up tending the family farm as well as working for the Valley View Feed Mill.
He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1982 and attended vocational in Dodge City where he learned auto body repair and refinishing. That would be his life's work.
Curt worked at various body shops in southwest Kansas and Arizona before settling permanently in Comanche County in 1990. He opened Curt's Body Shop in Coldwater in 1996, which he operated for as long as he was able.
In 2005, he married Trina Woodrum in Coldwater. From this union a daughter, Victoria, and a son, Curtis were born.
In 2012 he married Barbara Svoboda in Eureka Springs, AR. He was single at the time of his passing.
He loved being a dad and took pride in being a single father.
He was an active Mason and Past Master at Comanche Lodge 295.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother: Jeffrey Allen Rush; and all four grandparents.
He is survived by his two children; his mother; a sister: Gayla (Kirk) Kissel of Protection, KS; sister Amy (Ed) Neuburger of Hays, KS; and four nieces.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024 (Family Will Be Present From 4-6 p.m.) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2024 at First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Brad Herndon presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to WEPAC Alliance, Comanche Lodge 295 of AF&AM of Kansas, or Coldwater First Christian Church in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
