David Mac
Leeper
August 31, 1948 – August 19, 2024
David Mac Leeper, 75, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday August 19, 2024. Born on August 31, 1948 he was the son of David Paul and Doris Anne (Dorsey) Leeper. Mac graduated from Protection High School in 1966 and attended Hutchison Community College. On July 22, 1967, he married Sherilyn Kay Herd in Protection, KS.
A lifetime resident of Protection, KS, Mac worked as a farmer and rancher while enjoying life with his loving wife, children, grandchildren and more recently his great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Protection Methodist Church and was often found leading in bible study, children's moment at the church or even working to share the hope of the Gospel with incarcerated men. Mac's love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was often seen through the time he spent in God's Word or the hymns he cherished. He would often be heard telling others the key to life was "breathe in Jesus, breathe out Jesus". He served on the Co-Op Board, Protection Recreation Commission and he also coached basketball for a while in the school systems, which he enjoyed. A present husband, dad and grandfather, any given day he could be found watching them compete in sporting events, rodeos or showing them the lay of the land from the seat of a tractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kim Leeper; Son, Matthew Jacob Leeper; and Grandson, Colt David Leeper.
He is survived by by his wife; Sherry; Children: Kristi Hensley (Sean) of Berthoud, CO, Mishaun Estes (Brad) of Bucklin, KS, Tiffany Pike (Chris) of Dodge City, KS, Nathan Leeper (Jenny) of Pratt, KS, Andrew Leeper (Heather) of Wilmore, KS; Fifteen Grandchildren: Josh & MacKenzy Meis, Sydney Leeper, Talon Estes (Isabella), Ridge Estes, Trace Pike (ShayLynn), Breckyne Perrotti (Michael), Tade, Briekyne, & Trage Pike, Taylor, Brynn & Colson Leeper, and Alida & Aycen Leeper. Four Great-Grandchildren: Mila Meis, Halston & Maven Pike, and Crew Perrotti. Sisters: Dana Selzer (Harvey), Sara Leeper (Cindy), Lisa Brooks (Lowell), Joni Rankin (Steve), and Mona Heinze (Dan); Sister-in-law Sharon Leeper and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation with Family Present will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Protection Methodist Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Michael Perrotti presiding.
