Obituary

Dorothy Huck, 94, died Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at SunPorch of Dodge City, KS.  She was born near Fargo, OK, to Ernest and Irene (Erion) Chalmers on April 27, 1926. She attended the Fargo schools, graduating in 1944. She attended Northwestern State College in Alva, OK, graduating with a teaching degree in 1947.

She taught two years in Bushton, KS before moving to Protection where she taught High School English for seven years, 1949-1956.

Dorothy married Vaughn Huck on March 30, 1956. He passed away November 2, 1976.

Dorothy continued to live in Protection before moving to Dodge City in 1991.

Her memberships included the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women in Protection, transferring her membership to Dodge City United Methodist Church. She was a former 35 year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter DM, Protection.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Coday, granddaughter, Niccole Coday and great granddaughter Zoe, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Pauline Stricker and her brother, Don Chalmers.

At Dorothy's Request, there will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.

Memorials can be made to the Dodge City United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund or to the Protection United Methodist Church, Church Improvement Fund in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.

A memorial graveside service will be held at the Protection Cemetery, Protection, KS, at a later date.
