Doyle W. Morton

Doyle W. Morton died May 7th, 2013 at the Comanche County Hospital, Coldwater Kansas. He was born Dec. 22, 1934 in Oberlin Kansas, the son of Lester and Nola (Vernon)Morton. Doyle grew up in Decatur County, graduating from Decatur Community High School in 1953, where he excelled in wrestling and football.
After graduating he worked at Vtopka Seed Co. until he and a cousin John Sanaule opened S&M Body Shop in 1954. Doyle then started his career with Farm Bureau in 1966 as a Claims Adjuster in Pratt Kansas until December of 1979 when he was promoted to Regional Claims Manager in the Kansas City Office. He remained in that position until April 1984 when he was promoted to the Kansas Farm Bureau Supervisor of Claims at the Manhattan Home Office until his retirement in 1997. Doyle always enjoyed going to work and loved people.
On March 21, 1954 he married Beverly Cozad of Norton Kansas. She died March 7, 1987. They raised three children, Tony Morton, Jana Jones and Lynn Kincaid.
On September 13, 2003 he married Ferrel (Herd-Hazen) of Coldwater upon which time he added 3 daughters to his family, Taunya Matthews, Sharlyn Jackson and Jamie Pinnick. During this time in Coldwater, Doyle acquired many more friends, working with local farmers, and continuing his wood working projects and many family get togethers.

He is survived by his wife Ferrel, one son Tony and wife Pam of Raymore Missouri, daughters Jana Jones of Lee Summit Missouri and Lynn Kincaid and husband Rick Kincaid of Wamego, Taunya Matthews of Edmond Oklahoma, Sharlyn Jackson and husband Dan of Coldwater, Jamie Pinnick and companion Scott Fleming of Protection, 5 grandchildren, Shawn Petty, Taci Hicks, Bryson Petty, Megan Anderson, Nicole Mitchell, step grandchildren, Shanda Harkness, Justin Matthews, Joshua and Jason Morlan, T.J. Harvey, Brent Pinnick, great grandchildren, Jordon Wright, Grayson Hicks, Aubrey & Bryleigh Petty, Austyn, Stuart, Baily and Ethan Linhardt, step-great grandchildren, Logan, Chesney, Ethan & Riley Harkness, Stetson Harkness and Garrett Matthews and Hayes and Koy Harvey.
His parents, Lester and Nola Morton preceded him in death along with two brothers Donald and Luther Morton and one sister, Choral Unger.
He was member of the Coldwater Assembly of God Church and a Mason.

Memorial service is at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Coldwater United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS.

Graveside inurnment is at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan, KS.
