Clayton Andrew "Dru" Sherman, 62, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, KS. Born July 27, 1955, at Coldwater, KS, he was the son of Clayton and Ellen (Brown) Sherman.
A lifetime resident of the Coldwater, KS area, Dru graduated from Coldwater High School in 1973. He was a lifelong farmer and his work ethic was looked up to and respected in the farming community. Dru had the ability to tell the moisture content of wheat simply by chewing on the grain. He was a member of the Coldwater Pleasure Club and served on the Bank of Protection Board of Directors for over 25 years.
On November 6, 1976, he married Debi Hoffman in Coldwater, KS. To this union were born three children: Denae, Dace, and Dia. They were later divorced. On August 10, 2002, he married Brenda Lorenzen in Coldwater, KS. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2014.
Dru was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time at the lake house. He also enjoyed team roping, golf, playing cards, and trips to the casino. Dru's sense of humor, quick wit, and love of life will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother: Ellen Sherman of Coldwater, KS; three children: Denae Sherman of Coldwater, KS, Dace Sherman of Tulsa, OK, and Dia Unruh and husband Jacob of Coldwater, KS; two grandchildren: Jalee and Daxton Unruh; one sister: Talma Maris and husband Ron of Coldwater, KS; his fiancé: Jean Ann Turley of Coldwater, KS; and a niece: Delana Long and husband Nick and children Briggs and Finley of Wichita, KS.
He was preceded in death by his father: Clayton Sherman; his wife: Brenda Sherman; and a brother: Kenneth Lee Sherman.
The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Celebration of Life Service is at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 5, 2018, at United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Juan Espinoza presiding. Interment is in Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
