Edward Welty
Edward Welty, 84, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at his residence in Coldwater, Kansas. Born April 9, 1927, in Woodward County, Oklahoma, he was the son of Fred Moore and Catherine Esther (Wanger) Welty.
Ed was a lifetime resident of the Coldwater, Kansas and Freedom, Oklahoma areas. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion.
During his life, Ed worked for the Gaskill Ranch as a farmer and rancher, he delivered fuel for the Mobil Station, and he was employed by Comanche County Road and Bridge Department, retiring in 1995.
On March 7, 1969, he married Alice Black at Buffalo, Oklahoma. She survives.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Alice Welty of Coldwater, Kansas; one daughter: Nancy Ryel and her husband Allen of El Reno, Oklahoma; one granddaughter: Christina Cullimore and her husband Aaron of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters: Ila Mae Kornele and Betty Perrin and husband Marvin; sisters-in-law: Irene Welty, Naomi Welty, and May Hendricks; many nieces and nephews; and his special friend: Cheyenne Littrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Dick and Sam; sister: Georgie Kornele; and brother-in-law: Dick Kornele.
Memorial service is at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, Kansas, with Pastor Greg Marlow presiding.
Burial will follow the memorial service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, Kansas.
