Ellen Nadine (Brown) Sherman, 91, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born October 28, 1928, at Greensburg, KS, she was the daughter of Andrew and Orpha (Lewis) Brown.
Ellen was born and raised in Greensburg, KS and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1946. She was a long time resident of Coldwater, KS and was a snowbird, spending the winters in Mesa, AZ
Ellen, known by Miss Ellie to many, was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church, Chapter E.G. of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Order of Eastern Star, and Kensington Club. She was a homemaker, helped on the farm, and worked at Coldwater National Bank for many years. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed all sports.
On January 17, 1946, she married Clayton Sherman at Dodge City, KS. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1991.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son: Kenneth Sherman; a son: Dru Sherman; a son-in-law: Ron Maris; and a daughter-in-law: Brenda Sherman.
She is survived by her daughter: Talma Maris of Coldwater, KS; four grandchildren: Delana Long (Nick) of Wichita, KS, Denae Hoyt (Matt) of Ulysses, KS, Dace Sherman (Marlaina) of Kaw City, OK, and Dia Unruh (Jacob) of Coldwater, KS; and four great-grandchildren: Briggs & Finley Long and Jalee & Daxton "Rooster" Unruh.
Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2020, at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Kennedy Mukwindidza presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Coldwater United Methodist Church, Pioneer Lodge, or Coldwater/Wilmore Rec. in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
