Evelyn Dale (Lenertz) Reed, 87, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Newton Medical Center in Newton, KS.  Born January 31, 1933, at a residence in Coldwater, KS, she was the daughter of Philip and Susie (Thompson) Lenertz.

Evelyn was nearly a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS.  She graduated from Wilmore High School in Wilmore, KS and attended Phillip's University in Enid, OK.  On August 14, 1954, she married Floyd D. Reed in Kiowa, KS.  He preceded her in death on September 29, 2001.

Evelyn worked as the librarian for the Coldwater/Wilmore Library for 27 years.  She was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church and U.M.W.  Other memberships include: Civic Club; Red Hat Society; B.P.W.; Bowling Club; Kansas Archaeological Association; Kansas Native Plant Society; and Iroquois Center Board of Directors.  She was a published poet and enjoyed photography, birdwatching, and genealogy research.

She is survived by two daughters: Doreen Hadley (Bruce) of Newton, KS and Karen Wall (Jeff) of Grant, NE; five grandchildren: Jody Hadley (Leslie) of Newton, KS, Bob Hadley (Tirzah Rice) of Wichita, KS, Jack Hadley of Wichita, KS, Jacob Wall (Tiffany) of Windsor, CO, and Joshua Wall of Lincoln, NE; seven great-grandchildren: Gavin, Kaitlin, Rory, Samantha, Ewan, Rylee, and Reagan; and a host of other family members and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Dirk Reed; and one sister: Neta L. Shipley.

A private family graveside service will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
