Wilma Faye "Gran" Teeter was born on September 24, 1931 in Devol, Oklahoma. She entered heaven at her residence in Protection Kansas on January 17, 2016. She will be laid to rest on January 22, 2016 in Protection, Kansas.
Faye was born to Ulpin Holt and Elsie Willingham Rollins. She grew up in southern Oklahoma. Walter and Faye met in Burkburnett, TX and later married on July 12, 1947. To their union they welcomed 6 children, Carrie (Doug) Hadley, Bobby (Debbie) Teeter, Carlotta (Lester) Heupel, Debbie (Gary) Brown, Maxine (Greg) Ellis, and Johnny (Krysten) Teeter. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. Her faith was a very important part of who she was. She shared that faith with her family and friends. Her love for her family was a reflection of God's unconditional love.
Walter and Faye began raising their family in the Wichita Falls, TX area moving them to Protection, KS in 1961. Faye worked alongside her husband for many years hauling hay. She worked at Kathy's Cafe, 160 Cafe and later Don's Place. She played the guitar and sang along with her brothers and sisters in the Cimmaron Cacklers Jamboree Band.
Faye had many hobbies. She was always busy quilting, crocheting, making pies, or canning jams and jelly. Many of her family and friends received numerous gifts of quilts; crocheted blankets, scarves, & hats; dolls; and bunnies. These gifts will be treasured memories for years to come. She was well known for her pies and jelly, which she lovingly shared with everyone. And after many years, she finally shared the recipes with her grandchildren. She passed along her love for crafting and baking to her grandchildren.
Faye enjoyed going to Bingo, playing cards with friends, and attending the many activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In the past few months, she enjoyed spending her mornings working at Auntie M's in Coldwater along side her daughter Maxine and granddaughter Sarah.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses, 27 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren. Her four sisters, Nora Jo Elliot, Darlene (Leroy) Mullens, Mary MacDonald, and Cathy (Dennis) Brown. Sister-in-law Cheryl German. Numerous nieces and nephews, along with her dear friends Bonnie Brown, Bille Riner, Elveta Keller, and Everett Keller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, infant twin brothers, her 4 brothers Herman, Bob, Tom, and Jim. Brothers-in-law Otto Elliot & Jackie MacDonald. Sister-in-law Thelma Rollins. Granddaughters Cindy Heupel, Emily Heupel, Bri Heupel, Lona Ellis and great grandson Tegan Ellis.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2016, and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, KS.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2016, at the SCES Gymnasium in Protection, KS, with Pastor Dale Johnson presiding. Inurnment will follow the service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
