Obituary

Floyd O. Thompson, 80, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt, KS. Born February 9, 1937 at Patterson Township, OK, he was the son of Floyd and Mary (Baker) Thompson.
Floyd was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960. His basic training was in Great Lakes, IL and he served aboard the U.S.S. Lexington and U.S.S. Princeton.
On November 1st, 1957, he married Ruby Bliss, at Wichita, Kansas. She survives.
After he got out of the Navy he moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he owned and operated Phillips 66 service stations and delivered and set up mobile homes. He moved to his present location, near Freedom, Oklahoma in 1983. He worked for the Comanche County Road and Bridge Department for 10 years and then became a full-time rancher. Floyd was a member of the VFW. He was an avid fisherman, spending hours at a time on a riverbank. He also enjoyed having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Donald, Jack, and an infant brother; and five sisters: Madeline, Elnora, Melva, Opal, and Wonieta.

He is survived by his wife: Ruby Thompson of the home; two children: Tammy Smith of Midwest City, OK and Rhonda Little and husband Douglas of Sedgwick, KS. Two brothers: John Thompson and wife Jan of Independence, KS and Marvin Thompson and wife Cheryl of Cherryvale, KS; two sisters: Margery Hayes of Erick, OK and Ann Cook of Estacada, OR; eight grandchildren: Jonathon Smith, Meghan Snell, Kaleb Smith, Jareb Smith, Katelyn Smith, Dariah Ballinger, Jamie Little, and Stephanie Little; and five great-grandchildren: Savannah Smith, Aedan Smith, Rian Smith, Noah Little, and Dawson Little.

Family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Caleb Palmer presiding.

Graveside service is at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Freedom Cemetery in Freedom, OK, with full military honors.
