Fonda Mae Dollar, 73, passed away on November 28, 2016, in Chandler, Arizona.
Fonda was born in Lawton, Oklahoma to Alma Jo and Charles Douglas on October 30, 1943. She served in the United States Army from 1976-1978 and was the first female officer to complete training as a correctional officer at the United States Penitentiary at Terre Haute. After her military service, she continued her career as an officer and correctional counselor with the Federal Bureau of Prisons until her retirement in 2001 completing over 20 years of service. After retirement, her love of cooking led her to volunteer at the local senior citizen's center in Kaufman, Texas for several years.
Fonda is preceded in death by her mother, Alma Jo Farrar; sisters, Karen Jo Douglas and Mary Ruth Daily; and brother, Franklin A. Douglas.
Fonda is survived by her husband, Steve Dollar; sons and their wives, Randall & Elsa Ross, Garald & Glynda Ross, Michael & Debbie Ross; grandchildren, Calaye Saunders, Leon Ross, Michelle Stevens, Colin Ross, Ryan Ross, Aaron Ross, Taylor Ross, Shaun Ross; and great grandchildren, Elly Saunders, Madilyn Stevens, Jude Stevens, Aida Saunders and Lucy Stevens, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Family visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, KS.
Graveside service is at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt, KS.
