Garlon Leroy Jarnagin, 87, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS.  Born March 9, 1934, at Dalhart, TX, he was the son of Ivan R. and Alba A. (Barker) Jarnagin.

Garlon graduated from Seiling High School in Seiling, OK, received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Friends University in Wichita, KS, where he played football and golf, and received a Master's Degree in Education from Emporia State University in Emporia, KS.  He was a teacher, coach, and administrator, working at numerous schools in central and western Kansas and Montrose, Colorado, during his career, recently moving back to Protection, KS.

Garlon was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958.  He was a member of the Protection United Methodist Church in Protection, KS.

On August 21, 1959, he married Ramona Joyce Baker.  She survives.

He is survived by his wife: Ramona Jarnagin of Protection, KS; two sons: Kent Jarnagin (Susan) of Protection, KS and Rex Jarnagin (Kari) of Highlands Ranch, CO; one sister: Charlotte Bryan (Harold) of Springdale, AR; five grandchildren: Jordan Schmidt (Leighton), Lauren Reimer (Dylan), Clayton Jarnagin (Jewel), Preston Jarnagin, and Connor Jarnagin (Lexie); and four great-grandchildren: Carson and Bennett Schmidt, Olivia Reimer, and Jhett Jarnagin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter: Robyn Jarnagin; and six siblings.

A graveside service and inurnment will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 14, 2021, at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Kingman, KS, with Rev. Dennis Carter presiding and full military honors.
