Gary Wallace Girk, 77, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born September 21, 1942, at Beaver, OK, the son of Wesley Wallace "Buck" and Delsie Virginia (Davidson) Girk, he was a farmer and rancher.
Gary was a lifetime resident of Protection, KS. He graduated from Protection High School in 1961 and attended Kansas University, where he was a member of the football team. Gary was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Protection, KS and was a member of the Box Ranch Association and Masonic Lodge.
On June 8, 1968, he married Charlotte Braswell at Stillwater, OK. She survives.
He is survived by his wife: Charlotte Girk of Protection, KS; one daughter: Gari-Ann Stein (Kevin) of Spearville, KS; one son: Logan Girk (Lisa) of Protection, KS; six grandchildren: Kaden, Kyler, & Kolby Stein and Garrett, Gage, & Gentry Girk; two brothers: Darrel Girk (Terena) of Protection, KS and Ross Girk (Lisa) of Protection, KS; one sister: Nyla Sherman (Kent) of Ulysses, KS; a sister-in-law: Karen Girk of Protection, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Buck and Delsie Girk; and one brother: Nyle Girk.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2019 (Family Will Greet Friends from 5-7 p.m.) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Trever Ball and Pastor Randy Caddell presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Protection First Baptist Church or Comanche County Hospital in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
