Gary Nevan Sanders, 84, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Protection Valley Manor in Protection, KS.  Born January 20, 1940, at Coldwater, KS, he was the son of Robert and Agatha (Case) Sanders.

Gary was a lifetime resident of the Protection, KS area, moving into town in 1947.  He attended Protection Grade School and graduated from Protection High School in 1958.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Protection, KS.  Gary worked as a carpenter for many years during his life.

On November 4, 1958, he married Anna Lea Percifield in Coldwater, KS.  To this union three children were born: Shelley Ann, Michael Allen, and Gary Randall.  She survives.

Other survivors include one son: Randall Sanders (Amy) of Protection, KS; one brother: Kent Sanders of Protection, KS; his aunt: Mary Schultz of Protection, KS; six grandchildren: Levi Seacat, Abby Seacat, Lexi Seacat, Jordan Sanders, Macey Sanders, and Brittny Corona; and four great-grandchildren: Lakota Seacat, Carolyn Seacat, Jaxx Corona, and Julian Corona.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter: Shelley Seacat; one son: Michael Sanders; and one brother: Hal Sanders.

Graveside service is at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS, with Pastor Rusty Westerfield presiding.
