Gary Dean Trummel

Gary Dean Trummel, 84, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born August 17, 1930, at Wilmore, KS, he was the son of Lester E. and Eulah Booth (Wood) Trummel.
Gary was a long time resident of Comanche County, KS, also living in Wichita, KS and Greensburg, KS. He graduated from Wilmore High School in 1948 and attended Hutchinson Community College. Gary was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954.
On October 21, 1956, he married M. Jane Alley at Wilmore, KS. She survives.
Gary worked as a farmer for much of his life. He also worked for the Wichita Airport Authority, Kiowa County Road and Bridge Department, and most recently was the manager of the Comanche County Airport since 2010. He was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS.
He is survived by his wife: Jane Trummel of Coldwater, KS; two sons: Kent Trummel and his wife Jean of Wilmore, KS and Mark Trummel and his wife Dana of Greensburg, KS; one daughter: Teresa Scholl and her husband Trevor of Wichita, KS; three brothers: Richard Trummel and his wife Vi of Wichita, KS, Don Trummel and his wife Kathy of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sam Trummel of Wichita, KS; a sister-in-law: Heidi Trummel of Colwich, KS; an aunt: Evelyn Helm of Dodge City, KS; six grandchildren: Neil Trummel, Tracy Little, Andrew Trummel, Sarah Simmons, Tyler Scholl, and Tanna Scholl; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Jim Trummel and Russell Trummel.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2015, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Wilmore Federated Church in Wilmore, KS, with Rev. Gary Merritt and Rev. Carl Helm presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Wilmore Cemetery in Wilmore, KS, with full military honors.
