Gay Lyn Unruh, 65, passed away Monday, November 14, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. Born December 12, 1956, at Coldwater, KS, she was the daughter of Charles Junior and Lydia Elizabeth "Beth" (Stivers) Hatfield.
Gay Lyn was a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS and was very proud to call Wilmore, KS home. She attended Coldwater Schools and graduated from Coldwater High School in 1974. On September 12, 1975, she married Roger Unruh at First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS. He survives.
Gay Lyn was actively involved in the Wilmore Community and was a member of the Wilmore Federated Church. She was a hard worker and had many jobs during her life including: Burton Drug Store; Coldwater and Wilmore Post Offices; Co-Owner and Operator of Tiffany's Dress Shop with her mother, Beth; and most recently she assisted her husband, Roger, in the operation of Unruh Contract Oil Pumping.
She is survived by her husband: Roger Unruh of Wilmore, KS; one son: Braden Charles Unruh of Leipzig, Saxony, Germany; one sister: Lou Ann Prusa of Wichita, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and her best friend, Zoey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Larry Dean Hatfield.
A Viewing and Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Wilmore Cemetery in Wilmore, KS, with Pastor Kennedy Mukwindidza presiding. Casual dress is requested.
Following the graveside service will be a Celebration of Gay Lyn's Life at the Wilmore Community Center in Wilmore, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Wilmore Community Center, Wilmore Federated Church, or Comanche County E.M.S. in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
