Obituary

Glennda Lee Burt, 60, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk, City, OK.  Born December 16, 1960 in Denver, CO, to her biological mother: Anna Lou Wesley, she was later adopted by her maternal grandparents: Glenn Allen and Treva Juanita (Emerson) Moreton.

Glennda was nearly a lifetime resident of Coldwater, KS.  She graduated from Coldwater High School in 1979.  On August 31, 1978, she married Michael Kent Burt at WaKeeney, KS.  He preceded her in death on December 3, 2013.

Glennda worked as a dispatcher for Comanche County, KS, for forty years, serving as Head Dispatcher, Supervisor, and Training Officer since 2008.  She was a Certified Emergency Medical, Law Enforcement, and Fire Dispatcher.  She trained over 20 people to be dispatchers and was a trusted friend to many dispatchers across the state.

Glennda was a member of Kansas A.P.C.O. and Kansas 911 Coordinating Council.  She was part of the first Emergency Preparedness Committee for the county, helping create the first Emergency Plans.

Glennda was dedicated to the care of people and the overall safety of the community.  She always kept all of her officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel safe.  No matter what was going on, she was always the calm voice on the radio and was always a trusted guide and support in time of need.  She will be missed by many.

In addition to her husband: Michael Burt, she was preceded in death by her biological mother: Anna Lou Wesley; her maternal grandparents/adoptive parents: Glenn Allen and Treva Juanita (Emerson) Moreton; a brother: Irving Wesley; and an uncle: Bill Moreton.

Glennda is survived by three children: Rebecca Bruckner (Danny) of Coldwater, KS, Eric Burt (Kimberly) of Coldwater, KS, and Michelle Burt (Tarquin Trujillo) of Johnson, KS; two brothers: Jerry Moreton (Barbara) of Cypress, TX and Glenn Bartholomew (Ginny) of Arvada, CO; one sister: Karel Kester (Greg) of Longmont, CO; five grandchildren: Jacob Bruckner (Jenni), Tristen Bruckner (Julia), Hope Burt, Emily Burt, and Jayden Trujillo; one great-grandchild: Emma Bruckner; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial service is at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Coldwater United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Kennedy Mukwindidza presiding.  Inurnment will follow the service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Comanche County Hospital, Coldwater United Methodist Church, or Coldwater Swimming Pool in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
