Gloria Lynn Monroe, 63, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born September 8, 1953, in Coldwater, KS, she was the daughter of Wade and Melba (Maris) Harmon.
Gloria was a lifetime resident of Protection, KS. She graduated from Protection High School in 1971. She attended Dodge City VoTech in Dodge City, KS, and received a certificate in floral design, later teaching a course in floral design. She was a member of Protection United Methodist Church in Protection, KS, and a past member of Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She married Gerald Monroe in 1971 and they were later divorced.
She is survived by one son: David Monroe and his wife Jennifer of Protection, KS; one daughter: Andrea Mitchell of Protection, KS; three sisters: Cindy Dellinger and her husband Don of Protection, KS, Valerie Heckart and her husband Kenny of Woodward, OK, and Terri Rogers and her husband Sandy of Newton, KS; two grandsons: Sidney Monroe and Avery Monroe of Protection, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside memorial service is at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS, with Pastor Wayne Stephens presiding.
