Gracie McLaughlin, 85, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born February 7, 1933, at Sitka, KS, she was the daughter of Stacy and Grace (Hilyard) Wilson.
Gracie was a lifetime resident of the Protection, KS area. She attended Sitka Grade School and graduated from Ashland High School in 1951. On April 8, 1951, she married Melvin McLaughlin at Protection, KS. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1996.
Gracie was a member of: Protection United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women; Order of Eastern Star; P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter DM; Loyal Community Club; and Third Thursday Card Club. Gracie was a loving homemaker and worked for several years at Farmer's State Bank (Bank of Protection).
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter: Gayle McLaughlin; a son-in-law: Boyd Holler; two sisters: Marjorie Lowry and Helen Daily; and one brother: Matt Wilson.
She is survived by two daughters: Debbie York (Mike) of Wilmore, KS and Becky Holler of Protection, KS; one son: Bill McLaughlin (Darletta) of Ashland, KS; seven grandchildren: Justin York (Nicole) of Coldwater, KS, Kirk York (Lindsey) of Topeka, KS, Dustin Walker (Haley) of Ashland, KS, David Walker of Ashland, KS, Kaitlyn Moore (Dylan) of Winfield, KS, Laura Holler of Manhattan, KS, and Bailey Holler of Protection, KS; eight great-grandchildren: Jeiler, Gracie, Wiley, Dagny, Josie, Harrison, Jacee, and Rayna; and a niece: Dottie Stegman (Mike) of Wichita, KS.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 8, 2018, at United Methodist Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Wayne Stephens presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
