Obituary

Harlin Conrad Yost

Harlin Conrad Yost was born at Hesston, Kansas on January 27, 1921 to Harvey and Elizabeth [Holdeman} Yost. He passed away at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital Greensburg, Kansas on June 19, 2018, reaching the age of 97 years. His family moved to a farm southwest of Greensburg when he was 7. He attended the "Lone Star School". He gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized as a young boy. He married our Mother, Elma Jean Schmidt on Nov. 22, 1942 at Halstead, Kansas. Dad and Mother shared 72 years together before her passing in 2014. They raised their 4 children on a farm near Wilmore, Ks. Dad enjoyed farming, raising cattle and working together with his neighbors in the Wilmore community. Dad was a patient, kind and gentle father, facing life with a positive and optimistic outlook. His strong faith in God carried him through the difficulties of life.

Dad and Mother moved to Greensburg in their retirement years. Here they weathered the 2007 tornado, losing their home. Dad joined Mother in the Carriage House in 2013 to be near her before her passing in 2014. He spent a short time in Moundridge Manor after Carriage House closed. His wishes to return "home" to Greensburg became a reality in 2017 where he was graciously cared for by the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital Nursing Staff until his passing.

Dad spoke often of Mother and looked forward to seeing her again; we as a family are thankful that he can join her. He is survived by his children, two sons Joe and Karen, Greensburg, Clark and Betty, Wilmore, two daughters Karla and Regal Boehs, Middleton, Michigan, Angela and Ervin Gearig, Ithaca, Michigan, eleven grandchildren, 27 greatgrandchildren, one brother Carl and Lavada Yost, Detroit, Texas, two sisters Verna Smith, Moundridge, Kansas, Carol Dirks, Rich Hill, Missouri, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, five sisters and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral service is at 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018, at Bethel Mennonite Church, with Mark Dirks and Rod Nace presiding.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Bethel Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Wilmore Community Center or Kiowa County Memorial Hospital in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
