Harriette Irene (Murry) Darnell was born February 23, 1932, in Anthony, KS, and passed away  February 8, 2021.

She was the daughter of J. Allen and Hattie Mae Murry of Jet, OK.  Her parents were both teachers.  Her schooling began in Kiowa, KS, then Beloit and Clay Center, KS, and she graduated from Ashland, KS High School in 1950.

She attended one semester at Friends Bible College in Haviland, KS.  She then went to work as a bookkeeper for B.J. Herd Implement in Coldwater, KS.  It was there she met Donald Darnell.  They were married September 23, 1951, in Attica, KS.  She became an instant mom to Roy, 5, and Charolette, 2 ½.  On January 3, 1962, Gary Lynn joined the family and soon became the apple of everyone's eye.

For 15 years, Harriette was a stay-at-home mom.  She then started working part time as a bookkeeper, proofreader for a newspaper, home health, and town clerk for Hitchcock, OK for over 30 years.  Down through the years, she gave piano lessons to many young people and adults, including her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 ½ years: Donald; her 2 sons: Gary and Roy; her brother: Tom; 2 sons-in-law, and a granddaughter.

She is survived by her daughter: Charolette Martin and husband Woodrow; 2 daughters-in-law: Roni and Sandy; 6 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, along with several great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
