Jamie Lyn (Herd) Flores, age 66, passed away on February 20, 2024, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, KS. Jamie was a beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, and friend who will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Jamie was born on April 11, 1957, in Coldwater KS. She graduated High School in American Fork, Utah and went on to a lengthy career in the computer chip manufacturing industry. Also, as a women's prison guard, at which she scored in the top of her class in marksmanship. Spending most of her adult years living in Texas, she moved back to Comanche County to help her father in his final years, and for that she has her family's interminable gratitude.
While living in Coldwater, she enjoyed working as dispatcher at the Comanche County Sheriff's Office and went on to work closely with consumers at the Iroquois Center for Human Development within their Transitional Living Program. Throughout her work career, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
Jamie had a huge heart and loved her pets immensely. She was always happy to watch her Raiders play, catching up on her favorite soaps and loved watching old reruns of classic TV series. She also had a huge love for music. She was kind, friendly, funny, and easy going. But more than anything, Jamie was a devoted mother to her family. She was always there to offer support no matter what challenges they faced. As a friend she was fiercely loyal and compassionate; always thinking of others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her father: James Robert Herd; and one nephew: Austin Herd.
She is survived by children: Benjamin Flores (Sunnie) and Stephan Flores; her partner: Robert Flores; mother: Betty Jean Herd; sister: Karen Rae Herd; brother: Jeffry Dale Herd; two nieces; cousins and many friends.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A private family service will be held at a later time.
