Jane Arlene (Christopher) Roetker, 83, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Protection Valley Manor in Protection, KS.  She was born March 7, 1942 to Walter and Lillie (Hopkins) Christopher in Ashland, KS.  She had one older sister, Judy, and a younger brother, Jim.

She was a lifetime resident of Protection, KS and graduated from Protection High School in 1960, where she was the editor of the annual staff her senior year.

On November 6, 1960, she married Tom Roetker.  They had no children but spoiled their many nieces, nephews, and twin boys Kade and Keston Gean.

Jane worked at many jobs including L&M Grocery, Jones Drug Store, Kathy's Café, and as a secretary to the school before deciding to go to college.  She commuted to Northwestern State University in Alva, OK.  After 4 years, she graduated with a BS in Elementary Education in 1972.  She taught 4th grade in Ashland, KS for 1 year until a 2nd grade position opened up in her home town of Protection.  She taught there for 38 years.

She was a member of the Protection Christian Church in Protection, KS.  Other memberships include: Red Hat Society and Ladies Card Club.

She is survived by her husband: Tom Roetker of Protection, KS; her brother: Jim (Talma) Christopher of Protection, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and twins: Kade and Keston Gean.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Walt and Lillie Christopher; her sister: Judy Moore and her husband, Warren Lee Moore; and a nephew: Wes Christopher.

Calling times are from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral Service is at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Protection Christian Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Rusty Westerfield presiding.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
