Jean Charles Raney
Jean Charles Raney, 78, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, Kansas. Born January 14, 1933, in Dodge City, Kansas, he was the son of Floyd Monte and Lillian Maybelle (Drake) Raney.
Jean was raised in Wilmore, Kansas and attended Wilmore Public Schools. He was a long time resident of Coldwater, Kansas, moving back to the area in 1975 from El Dorado, Kansas.
He is survived by two sisters: Sherry Shelton of Coldwater, Kansas, and Charvette Buckler and her husband Penny of Lamont, Oklahoma; one uncle: Robert Raney of Scandia, Kansas; seven nieces and nephews: Jimmy Shelton, Sherry Gossett, Lee Ann Alley, Connie Seward, George Jr. Shaw, Gary Raney, and Timothy Raney; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Connie Lavone Raney; two brothers: Benny Lou Raney and Gary Raney; and one nephew: Jerry Shelton.
Memorial service is at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the First Christian Church in Coldwater, Kansas, with Andrew Evans presiding. Burial will follow the service at Wilmore Cemetery in Wilmore, Kansas.
