IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeanie
Northern
November 26, 1948 – December 6, 2019
Regene "Jeanie" Colette Northern, age 71, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 6, 2019 at Medical City of Plano, TX.
She was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on November 26, 1948, to D. ReVae Markey and Walter Wierenga. She attended Washington High School and then on to Kansas University on an IBM scholarship.
She married Gary L. Northern in 1973, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Jeanie leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Gary and beloved family: daughters Chena Northern of Frisco, TX and Rene Verhaert and husband David of Lake Kiowa, TX, son, Greg Northern and wife Dee Dee of Alva, OK. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy; Courtnie Northern and fiancé Jalen Webster and their daughter, McKinley "Mac" Webster of Aubrey, TX, Dylan Verhaert of Carrollton, Kyle Verhaert of Stillwater, OK, and David Verhaert Jr and wife Shelby of Carrollton.
Jeanie loved to take on the tradition of ensuring all her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews were sent a birthday card every year covered in stickers that made you feel like a kid again. This was done for her family as well as her sister, Cheryl Antonie and her family as well as her stepsister Ellie Mathison and her family.
She was always strong in her faith in Jesus Christ and was involved in the church groups within the community. She loved the book of Psalms, she carried around a very worn list of her favorite verses; Psalms 23, 91, and 103.
Jeanie worked for the Howard Group for over 20 years and thoroughly enjoyed her work as an executive administrator. She was so dedicated and loved the family she worked for as well as her coworkers.
Jeanie always enjoyed getting involved in local groups no matter where she lived. It was no surprise she jumped right in when they moved to Lake Kiowa by getting involved with the following; Friends of the Lodge, Kiwanis, and Woman's Group.
Jeanie was known for her ability to host a party, whether it was a holiday or just a dinner party. She knew how to make it fancy with all the table decorations or to just throw a casual pizza party in her famous woodfire oven.
She will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, Kansas, next to Gary's parents, Harold & Leona Northern and his brother, Rick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Comanche County Hospital in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
