JoAnne Bare, 91, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the Satanta District Hospital in Satanta, KS. Born October 7, 1927, at Dodge City, KS, she was the daughter of William and Dolla Bella (Mulliken) Jones.
JoAnne was a long-time resident of Clark County, KS, previously living in Sierra County, NM, and recently living in Laverne, OK. She graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in Wichita, KS, received a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University, a master's degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and attended University of New Mexico and West Texas A&M. She was a teacher and taught at Syracuse, KS, Dalhart, TX, Protection, KS, and Coldwater, KS, during her career. She especially enjoyed teaching in the Drama Program and Migrant Program.
JoAnne was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Woodward, OK.; A.Q.H.A.; A.P.H.A.; and she was a proud member of the Democratic Party.
On June 1, 1959, she married Robert "Bob" Bare at Protection, KS. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2013.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, and one brother: Dr. John Jones.
She is survived by one daughter: Roberta Bare of Laverne, OK; one son: John Sanborn of Ashland, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling Times are from 3-5 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2019, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Rosary Service is at 9:30 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Woodward, OK, with Father Joe Arledge officiating.
Graveside Service will follow at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Highland Cemetery in Ashland, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to International Fellowship of Christians and Jews or Salvation Army in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
