Obituary

Milton Joe Brown, 87, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, KS.  Born November 15, 1936 in Ford County, Kansas, he was the son of Melvin Earl and Mattie Celia (Bryson) Brown.

Joe was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.  He was a long time resident of Coldwater, KS.  He worked for most of his life as a cowboy and also was the manager of Garvey Elevator in Coldwater, KS for many years.  He enjoyed playing dominos with his friends at the Coldwater Pleasure Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his long time companion: Patricia Prue; and eight siblings: Anna Lou, William Carr, Earl Wayne, Olive Adelaide, Ellis Eugene, Kenneth Ray, Viola May, and Ricky James.

He is survived by two daughters: Tracy Harger (Larry) of Medicine Lodge, KS and Sherry Colleen Brown (Adam) of California; two grandchildren: Larry Joe Harger (Shawna) of Medicine Lodge, KS and Lacy Dawn Leddy (James) of Harper, KS; six great-grandchildren: Hailey, Brooklynn, Brynlee, Bristyll, Taylor, and Taylin; a sister-in-law: Mary Lou Brown of Haviland, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A Visitation with Family Present will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Pioneer Lodge or Comanche County Fair in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
