Judith Elizabeth "Judy" Smith, 77, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at her residence in Protection, KS. Born November 20, 1944, at Wellington, KS, she was the daughter of Richard Norman and Elizabeth Anastasia (Wells) Crowley.
Judy grew up in Kansas City, MO and attended high school in Westboro, MO. On April 21, 1963, she married Garry Gene Smith at Nebraska City, NE.
Judy was a long time resident of Protection, KS, moving there in 1981. She worked in the physical therapy department in rest homes for many years. Judy was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Coldwater, KS.
She is survived by her husband: Garry G. Smith of Protection, KS; four children: Garry G. Smith, Jr. (Loann) of Lenox, IA, Richard L. Smith (Stephanie) of Hugoton, KS, Jeanette Houghton (Mark) of Protection, KS, and Anthony W. "Tony" Smith of Coldwater, KS; five siblings: Karen Coates of Bethany, MO, Steve Crowley (Naomi) of Norwich, CT, Kevin Crowley (Anita) of Wichita Falls, TX, Anastasia Crowley of Dodge City, KS, and Sean Crowley (Donna) of Cunningham, KS; ten grandchildren: Toni, Jaqueline, Garry III, Richard, Robert, Samantha, Dustyn, Brooke, Garrett, and Eilis; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings: Mike Crowley, Tim Crowley, and Brigid Hickey; and a daughter-in-law: Annie Smith.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Family Will Be Present from 5-7 p.m.), Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS, with Father Eric Gyamfi presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to W.E.P.A.C. or Protection Beautification Committee in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
