Julia Kathleen Atteberry Wolfe
Julia Kathleen Atteberry Wolfe, 86, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, at Trinity Manor in Dodge City, Ks. Born April 26, 1925, at Red Cloud, Neb., she was the daughter of James Miner and Hazel (Lippincott) Kent.
She graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1942. On November 28, 1944, she married Glenn "Buck" Atteberry at Lusk, Wyoming. He preceded her in death on January 9, 1990. On July 9, 1991, she married Hank Wolfe at Dodge City, Ks. They made their home in Oregon until he passed away on January 9, 2004. Kathleen was a resident of Dodge City, Ks., moving back in 2004.
She was the secretary/bookkeeper for the electric company in Coldwater, Kansas, and later in Dodge City, Kansas. She also worked for Smoll & Banning and for Terry Rabe Accounting. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. Other memberships include: B.P.W. and Chamber of Commerce in Coldwater, Ks.; Board Member for the Senior Center in Dodge City, Ks.; and she volunteered for Women's Auxiliary at the Dodge City Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter: Deborah Flowers and husband Melvin of Dodge City, Ks.; four older sisters: Evelyn McMahon of Hastings, Neb., Ardys Miksch of Red Cloud, Neb., Marjorie Nowack of Ozark, Mo., and Mildred Peterson of Chandler, Ariz.; three grandchildren: Natalie Rose of Dallas, Tx., Angela Childress and husband Dustin of Keller, Tx., and Jessica Ford and husband SFC Ed of Leavenworth, Ks.; and six great-grandchildren: Charles Baker, Meghan Childress, Afton Ford, Ethan Ford, Hannah Childress, and Mason Childress.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service is at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the First Christian Church in Dodge City, Ks., with Minister Phil Scott presiding. After the memorial service, the family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, Ks., followed by a graveside service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, Ks.
