Obituary

Justin David "JD" Redger, 41, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Pratt Regional Medical Center in Pratt, KS.  Born April 8, 1980, at Garden City, KS, he was the son of David and Linda (McPhail) Redger.

JD attended Ashland, KS Schools and graduated from Ashland High School in 1999.  He received Associates Degrees in Fire Science and Farm & Ranch Management from Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, KS.  He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy (Active Duty and Reserve) from 1999-2012.

On July 11, 2015, he married Gayla Eubank near Sitka, KS.  She survives.

A resident of Protection, KS, JD was a firefighter for Ashland Fire Department.  He was also an E.M.T., starting his career for Clark County E.M.S. and most recently working for Comanche County E.M.S.  He was a Director for Dodge City Roundup Rodeo Committee.  Other memberships include: KEMSA; KSFFA; and KAAI.

He is survived by his wife: Gayla Redger of Protection, KS; three children: Elizabeth Mahayla "Elle Mae" Redger, Thomas Wayne Redger, and Robert Justin "RJ" Redger of the home; his parents: David and Linda Redger of Ashland, KS; his maternal grandmother: Nadine McPhail of Ashland, KS; two sisters: Trishia Redger of Ashland, KS and Kayla Redger of Hugoton, KS; two nieces: Ashley Price and Britney Redger; his father and mother-in-law: Danny and Mary Eubank of Protection, KS; one sister-in-law: Robin Eubank-Callis (Troy Callis) of Medicine Lodge, KS; one nephew: Bradie Callis; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant son: Maverick James Redger; and his grandparents: Robert McPhail and Albert & Grace Redger.

Viewing and Visitation with Family Present is from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2021, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Memorial service is at 5:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2021, at Ashland Rodeo Arena in Ashland, KS, with Pastor Dillon Evans presiding and full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Ashland Rural Fire or Comanche County E.M.S. in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
