IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen
Oller
May 13, 1944 – October 21, 2025
Karen Sue Oller (Roby), passed peacefully in her home in Coldwater, KS on October 21st, 2025, surrounded by love in the presence of her family. Karen was born to Walter and Opal Roby (Tregellas) on May 13th, 1944. Both of her parents have preceded her in death, and she had an older brother named Bobby Roby who has also preceded her in death. Karen is survived by her husband Leo Oller, of Coldwater, as well as her children and grandchildren. She had three children from a previous marriage: Nancy Davis (husband James, children Shanedra, Ta'Ra, Brandon, and Joshua), Jonathan Gibson (wife Cathleen, children Christian "Scott", Jillian, Jocelyn, Canyon, Hailie, Sarah, Danton, and Elsa), and Justin Gibson (wife Donna, and children Gabe, Ben, and Ashley). She had two step-children: Sam (wife Marion and children Robert and Jeffrey), and Jennifer Oller. Her great-grandchildren include Theo and Liam (from Brandon and Ame Davis), Winry (From Jillian and Daniel Terrill), Waylon (from Danton and Emma Gibson), Olivia and Auria (from Jestony and Ashley Malbacias) and three step-grands-children Isaiah, Gabriel, and Julian (from Ta'Ra Davis).
Karen's profession was a registered nurse and throughout her career she worked in various areas of nursing. She was a Practical Nursing Instructor at St Francis hospital in Wichita for 17 years. Shortly after that, she worked at the state mental hospital in Winfield. After marrying Leo and moving to Coldwater, she worked at Buffalo Hospital in OK, and then worked many years as the Director of the Comanche County Health Department in Coldwater, KS. Something she loved about her job at the Health Department was being able to give all of the kids in the community their vaccines. She also loved speaking at the schools and teaching CPR. She certainly loved kids. Her whole life she carried a child-like spirit and faith which naturally made all of the kids love her too.
Karen had an infectious smile and was so great at telling stories (especially funny ones). She always wanted people to feel special and was wonderful at creating special moments. She loved playing with the grand-children. They enjoyed taking walks, dancing, playing games, singing, swimming and just enjoying life. She was the coolest grandma ever. She was very adventurous and went on ziplines and roller-coasters with them. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and wanted to make sure everyone around her knew that. She and her husband, Leo, loved spending time with their family and also with their church family. We all have so many special memories with Karen. Everyone could always expect a friendly smile and warm hug from her. She will surely be missed, but for those of us who know Jesus, we have the comfort of knowing we will see her again soon.
Karen's husband Leo, her kids, and grandkids would like to invite you to celebrate her wonderful life. Some of the family will be at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home from 5-7pm on Friday, October 31st, 2025 for a time to fellowship and share "Karen stories". Everyone is welcome to join us! The Service will be held at First Christian Church at 201 N Central Ave, Coldwater, KS on Saturday, November 1st at 1:30pm with a short graveside service to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
