Kenneth Dwayne Gean, 74, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, Kansas. Born July 25, 1941, at Clarksville, Arkansas, he was the son of Calvin and Ann (Schweppnestedde) Gean.
Kenneth was nearly a lifetime resident of Protection, KS. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. He was the manager of the Huck Ranch from 1973-1997 and also worked as a truck driver for Filson Manufacturing. He was a member of the Protection United Methodist Church and served on the Comanche County 4-H Fair Board.

On December 20, 1968, he married Janice Huck in Coldwater, KS. On September 20, 2003, he married Pat (McCann) Forney in Protection, KS. She survives.

He is survived by his wife: Pat Gean of Protection, KS; one son: Randyl Gean and his wife Katresa of Protection, KS; two daughters: Jessica Gean of Protection, KS and Erica Gean of Wichita, KS; two brothers: Lewis Gean and his wife June of Wichita, KS and Jack Gean and his wife Connie of Augusta, KS; one sister: Mary Offield of Coldwater, KS; two grandchildren: Jackson and Emmarie Gean; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Joyce Grunden and Anna Lou Stafford; and two half-brothers: Junior Gean and Bob Gean.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the First Christian Church in Protection, KS, with Andrew Evans presiding and full military honors.
