Obituary

Kenny Colter, 79, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his residence south of Coldwater, KS. Born December 17, 1945, in Ashland, KS, he was the son of Willard Ira and Mildred (Houck) Colter.

Kenny was a lifetime farmer and rancher in  Comanche County, KS. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1963 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970.

On January 8, 1971, he married Verda May Pruett at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS.

Kenny is survived by his wife: Verda Colter of Coldwater, KS; one son: Brady Colter of Coldwater, KS; two daughters: Tracy Brittain and her husband Steve of Hudson, KS and Tanya Price and her husband Travis of Laramie, WY; eight grandchildren: Madeline, Michael, Addison, Sierra, Jace, Jaron, Fayth, and Ashlynn; four great-grandchildren: Kashton, Kendon, Kaizley, and Kleyson; two sisters: Joyce Heft of Coldwater, KS and Mary Shafer of Cherokee, OK; and close family friends: Randy Edwards and his wife Ruth and children, Cristen, Shane, Brandon, and Josh of Ulysses, KS.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Chris Colter; two sisters: Lillian Thompson and Madeline Koehn; and two brothers: J.W. Colter and Robert Colter.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Coldwater United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS with Pastor Jeff Perry presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Interim Hospice in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
