IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lanny D.
Denney
May 7, 1942 – November 24, 2021
Lanny D. Denney of Coldwater, KS, passed on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Born May 7, 1942 in Coldwater, KS, he was the son of Clyde and Ruth (Jordan) Denney.
Lanny was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from July 17, 1959 to July 16, 1963.
Lanny always lived life to the fullest. He was fun loving and always hard working. His knowledge, skills and abilities regarding anything to do with moving dirt, surpassed the majority of people. Lanny was a proud, but stubborn willed man which gave him the strength to work through many challenging situations. He worked for Fields & Sons, Barney Rogers Dirt Construction, Unruh Sand & Gravel, then retiring, until his work ethics started tickling him again, returning him to working for City of Coldwater.
Lanny could always be found creating mischief with his Nephew who was always more like a little brother, Randy Starks. Lanny and Randy always held a very close bond, and deep connection. Lanny also had a great appreciation for his supervisor at the city, Danny Shaw.
Lanny is survived by his 5 children: Roger Denney (Linda) of Moline IL, Tammy Neff (Robert) of Durant, IA, Kelli Denney of Pratt, KS, Sonya Gunter of Pratt, KS, and Scott Denney (Heather) of Olathe KS; 9 grandchildren, including Amelia Marie who will join the family in January 2022; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Linda Graybill (Johnnie) of Coffeyville, KS.
Lanny never met a stranger and was known by many near and far. His stubborn willfulness, temper, and work ethic are seen throughout the generations who follow him.
Lanny was a firm, loving, and trustful father, grandpa, and great grandpa. He leaves behind a family who loved him more than words can describe. May you find eternal peace while giving Grandma Denney a big hug. We will forever love you.
