Lawrence LeRoy Selzer, 67, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at the Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, KS. Born March 11, 1948, at Ashland, KS, he was the son of Lester Alvin and Phebe Mae (Hershberger) Selzer.
Lawrence was a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS. He attended Protection Grade School, graduated from Protection High School in 1967, and attended Hesston College in Hesston, KS. He was a farmer and a welder, working at Filson's Mfg., Bar-Six, and for custom harvest crews. He was a member of Protection Mennonite Church in Protection, KS, and Pratt Gideon Camp. He volunteered his time, doing service work for M.C.C., Mennonite Disaster Services, and Feed The Children Org.
On August 1, 1992, he married Ellen Ruth Bolinder at the Protection Mennonite Church in Protection, KS. She survives.
He is survived by his wife: Ellen Selzer of Coldwater, KS; one brother: Kenneth Selzer (Susie) of Pateros, WA; one sister: Sharon Sangster (Rodney) of Greensburg, KS; two aunts: Berta Miller of Hesston, KS and Mary Ann Miller (Jim) of Filer, ID; two nieces: Rachel Selzer of Pateros, WA and Lori Leboeuf (Doug) of Dixon, MO; two nephews: Danny Selzer of Pateros, WA and Kevin Sangster of Amarillo, TX; one great-nephew: Ethan Richardson; and three great-nieces: Katy Sangster and Emily and Brooke Leboeuf.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2015 (Family Will Greet Friends From 2-4) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2015, at Protection Mennonite Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Rod Crowell presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Mennonite Cemetery, south of Protection, KS.
